Balance Speech & Language Therapy does not directly bill to insurance companies and payment is due at the end of your child's evaluation and after each therapy session. Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, and Square Cash. After the last session of the month, you will be given a superbill.

A superbill is a form completed by medical practitioners that allows patients to be reimbursed directly from their health insurance companies. A superbill does not guarantee that an insurance provider will pay for the services provided. Each insurance plan is different, and it is your responsibility to contact your insurance provider and find out exactly will be covered.

Here are some recommended questions to have answered by your insurance provider before seeking speech-language intervention:

  • Do you reimburse for speech-language pathology services?

  • Do I need prior approval before I can obtain an evaluation?

  • What is the scope of coverage?

  • Are benefits only for evaluation? Are there benefits for ongoing therapy?

  • What are the annual limits to the number of treatment sessions may my child receive per year?

  • What is your reimbursement rate for evaluations and treatment?

It is your responsibility to determine what your insurance company will cover and whether you must receive their approval before initiating and continuing services. It is also your responsibility to fill out paperwork , pursue reimbursement, resolve claims issues, and appeal denials. It is highly recommended that you obtain health carrier approvals for speech-language evaluations and therapy in writing.
